Steve Harvey & Mo’Nique: A Discussion of Actions

Comedian, television host, producer, radio personality, actor, and author, Steve Harvey, had recently sat down with his good friend, comedian and actress, Mo’Nique, on his daily talk show to and the topic that had everyone watching was over Mo’Nique’s controversial statement about Netflix and her comments about Lee Daniels, Tyler Perry, and Oprah Winfrey. My point of view:

• I believe that Mo’Nique could’ve handled her issues with Netflix and expressed her feelings towards Lee Daniels, Tyler Perry, and Oprah privately and all the extra attention was unneeded. Her conflicts with them is understandable and definitely needs to be shown with attention and handled right from them for clarity to her. Steve had truth with his statement towards Mo’Nique on going about it wrong when handling these issues and then tries to put sense into Mo’Nique , but she wouldn’t back down stating her case. Steve then expresses to Mo’Nique when she claims his support would’ve been helpful, “I hate what’s happening to you. I hate what they’re saying that’s not true. I want them to know that you are caring, that you’re a great mother, that you’re an incredible talent,” he said. “I don’t like the fact that you’ve been blackballed. You can be un-blackballed. You’re too talented to have to worry about all of this.” I believe Steve’s attempts to prove Mo’Nique wrong in this and try to influence her to make things right with her enemies has definitely gotten into her head, but time will tell if she’ll truly take his advice into consideration and plan to act on it.
