Future is arguably one of the best rappers of the 2020s and has many hits that could back him. Coming off his collaboration album, “WE STILL DON’T TRUST YOU” with Metro Boomin, Future dropped “Mixtape Pluto” on September 20. This album contains 17 tracks with a playing time of about 45 minutes. In this review I will be going over the most notable tracks on the album.
Track number one of the album, “TEFLON DON,” consists of a smooth flow and a consistent low bass. A perfect description of this song would be that there is not much mumbling, which the genre of rap is known for nowadays. This was a great song to start the album with its upbeat tempo.
Track number two, “LIL DEMON,” came with the same consistencies of the first track, but it had a lot more mumbling from Future this time. This song showed him rapping about a whole lot of nothing. Future rapped a lot of random words which didn’t really make sense.
Now track three, “Ski,” showed how this album had a strong start and like the previous songs, had a bass that would shake your speaker. Other than this, however, the song was pretty much irrelevant compared to the other tracks.
Track number six, “TOO FAST,” showed Future’s inspiration from Rod Wave, which means the song is not great at all. What separates this song from the others is that the lyricism is better and Future is easier to understand.
Track 12, “SURFING A TSUNAMI,” had a melody that made the song a vibe and overall one of the best songs on the album. This track showed how Future’s calmer songs are somewhat better than his music with higher bass. This is overall a level up with a more unique style than the rest of the songs on the album.
This album did not feel as hyped as Future’s previous records, but based on the songs from the album, it seems like it should be a success. Although the songs were not bad, this album was not life changing or one that someone needs to listen to. Most of the tracks do not have much replay value other than “SURFING A TSUNAMI.” For that reason, I will give this a 7 out of 10.
