Cross Country finds success in Round Rock
The boys and girls varsity cross country teams ran at the McNeil Invitational in Round rock on Sept. 25. The boys team placed second in the varsity gold race and the girls placed fourth in the varsity silver race.
“Considering we had Juan fall twice and Noah also fell once. It went alright,” junior Michael Archie said. “I think we could have done some things better, but we just have to figure that out before state.”
While the team could have had a better day according to Archie, he placed 40th with a season best of 16:09.
“The race was going okay until mile two where I started to slow down,” Archie said. “I need to work on the last mile because that’s where I separated from Oliver and where Kaleb caught me.”
Senior Kaleb Cox and Junior Oliver Maldonado had successful days with Cox placing 37th with a season best of 16:08 and Maldonado placing 10th with a personal best of 15:35.
“I’m happy that I got a new personal best considering that this was one of the harder courses we’ve run,” Maldonado said. “I came 10th too, which was really good with how much competition there was in the race.”
