Being a varsity quarterback can be a big thing for high school, especially for someone who fell in love with the game at a young age. Sophomore Isaiah Rasheed is no exception.
“This is going to be a big year for me,” sophomore Isaiah Rasheed said. “I’m willing to step up to the challenge.”
Being a sophomore in charge of an 11-man offense and having a whole school behind you can be a challenge. Rasheed earned the job doing the work behind the scenes while no one was watching. Rasheed puts in work on and off the field and it shows with the speed he has.
“Getting that first varsity touchdown out the way felt really good,” Rasheed said. “It was my first varsity game, I was a little tense, then [I] eased in [and] the score took care of itself.”
The talents of the offense include running back Tory Blaylock, running back Cardae Mack and the offensive line. Rasheed is determined to make a difference and wants what is best for the team. Rasheed wasted no time in the first varsity game by scoring the first touchdown and setting the tone. Since Mack has been getting most of the snaps, Rasheed is doing his best to be a part of the team.
“I fell in love with the game when I was four and I get to take out my anger on people,” Rasheed said. “I’m willing to be where my coaches need me to be and show up for my team.”
