Varsity volleyball kicked off their season on August 13th with the team consisting of four seniors, six juniors, two sophomores and one freshman. They took their first victory at an away game against Cypress Creek, winning three to zero.
“We are coming off a record breaking season, after going undefeated in district and making it to the third round of playoffs so obviously the expectations are very high,” Volleyball Coach Madeline Odom said. “I am looking for the girls to win district again, and make it as far as we can in playoffs.”
As of September 19th, the varsity team has won 12 games against their opponents. Helping with these wins is first time varsity member and freshman, Kynzie Keo.
“I like getting to play with the upperclassmen on the team,” Keo said. “I play center so I love getting to play with them in every game.”
The 2023-24 team went all the way to districts, winning it before continuing into playoffs. The team’s games are mostly on Tuesdays and Fridays, making their practice schedule more flexible.
“More players need more work, and they are given multiple reps and opportunities in practice to practice and perfect their individual skills,” Odom said. “Everyone wants to work harder for each other, so I think that’s what keeps practice challenging and disciplined.”
