Prom 2021

This year has been difficult because students have had to social distance themselves from friends and family. Prom is a time for seniors to regroup with each other and have a good time celebrating their last bit of high school before they enter into the work field. This year it will be different.

“As we all know, COVID-19 has changed a number of things over the past year and a half, our prom included,” senior class president Jazmine Medrano said. “Because of COVID and the fact that our venue, the Woodlands Waterway Marriott is indoors, the district put some regulations in place to ensure the safety of our
students who will be attending.”

The senior class is approximately 850 students, so prom will be divided into three time slots. The first time slot will be 6-7:30 p.m. and the last slot is 8:30-10 p.m. with a max of 250 students per slot. Also, students will still have to wear masks to the event.

The theme for the 2021 prom is “Fire and Ice.” The reason for this theme is to focus on how this year has been a year of uncertainty. This theme reflects that sometimes students feel like they can be free like a fire or students are stuck in the same place like frozen in ice. The prom will be on Saturday, May 15.

Prom is also a time ware seniors will get to express their creativity and skill to other fellow students of their class. This is a going-away party to move on in life whether its college or into adulthood in general.
