Band Marching UIL Competition

The band has a marching competition this Saturday, Oct. 16. The UIL Marching Band Competition is taking place at Galena Park ISD.

The band will be performing a seven minute drill at 11:30 to the songs “Killian,” “Invictus,” “National Emblem,” “Under the Double Eagle,” and “Men In Gray.”

This is the same drill that the band performs weekly at football games for their halftime show. They have a game later that day on Saturday where they will again show off the result of their hard work and practice.

This will be the freshmen and sophomores’ first UIL marching competition, as the band did not attend the competition last year due to the effects of COVID-19.

Though the drill is simpler this year than in previous years, the band has put in a lot of effort this year. From teaching two entire classes of underclassmen to march, adjusting to a new director, and returning from a year of change due to COVID-19, the band has adapted as a whole this year, working hard to catch up from previous setbacks.

Good luck to the band at UIL. Good job with all of the hard work this year.
