World in Mourning- Kobe Bryant and Daughter Gianna Pass Away in Helicopter Accident

Basketball and sports fans are in shock and mourning the tragic death of Los Angeles Lakers legend, Kobe Bryant. The weekend was disrupted with the news of a helicopter crash containing Bryant and daughter Gianna as well as 7 other people killed.

Reportedly, the group was headed to a basketball tournament in which Gianna and other passengers were supposed to partake. On the way there, the fog had become thick and consumed the helicopter causing the pilot to lose control, which resulted in them crashing near Calabasas, CA.

Bryant, who owned the helicopter, had a legendary career in the NBA. Twenty years in the league lead to him amassing five championships and two Olympic gold medals as well as twelve NBA records. Most awards were based around his success at such a young age and the number of points he could score in a game. Kobe Bryant survived by devoted wife of 19 years, Vanessa Bryant and four daughters.

Gianna was set on living up to her name as she had aspirations of attending UCONN and then play in the WNBA. Being on her father’s recreational basketball team, she showed great promise. When playing Gianna showed a likeness that was of her father. How she shot the ball and moved, it seemed evident that she was going to be something special in the sports world.

After this tragic accident, support for the Bryant family and the victims came from around the world. Fans and teammates gave their condolences via social media. Many responses were filled with emotions for a man that inspired many.
