CFB National Championship

The Georgia Bulldogs won the College Football National Championship in a rematch with The University of Alabama with a score of 33 to 18.

The first half was largely a defensive game with no touchdowns scored in the first 30 minutes of play. Going into the locker room, Alabama led nine to six. Georgia’s six points were the fewest they had at half this season.

During the third quarter, Georgia took their first lead of the game when Zamir White scored from the 1-yard line giving Georgia a 13-9 lead.

Early in the fourth quarter, a sudden scoring outburst began when Alabama kicker Will Reicard made his fourth field goal, and on the next possession linebacker Christian Harris forced a fumble from Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett that Alabama was able to recover. Five plays later, Alabama quarterback Bryce Young threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to tight end Cameron Latu giving Alabama an 18-13 lead.

Bennett redeemed himself by completing a 40 yard touchdown pass to Adonai Mitchell with just over eight minutes left in the game. He added another touchdown with a 15 yard pass to freshman Brock Bowers with 3:33 remaining. The game was sealed when Kelee Ringo intercepted a pass from Bryce Young and returned it all the way to the end zone, giving Georgia a decisive 33-18 lead they held for the remainder of the game.
