Inventions Made To Get Plastic Out Of Oceans
The abundance of plastic produced today is harming sea animals; this is a very serious problem. With oceans full of plastic, you can find sea turtles and penguins with six-pack rings around their necks. Following are solutions to save the planet and marine life.
Still at the crowdfunding stage, Andrew Turton and Pete Ceglinski have created a seabin. It is fully automated, and it uses the oceans natural currents to bring the garbage and oils to it. A natural fibre bag catches the trash, while a special pump sucks up oils and other toxins. It was designed to be used in marinas, yacht clubs and harbours. E6PR was founded in 2017 and grew out of a collaboration between New York City ad agency We Believers, which is founded by Marco Vega, and Gustavo Lauria the biodegradable-product specialist Entelequia founded by Elizabeth Nava Garcia. E6PR is a biodegradable six pack ring. The six pack ring is a compostable six-pack holder derived from plant-based byproducts of the beer-making process. Increasing numbers of craft breweries in the United States, Australia, Poland, Scotland, and South Africa are turning to the E6PR. In Kenya, Nzambi Matee, “Young Champion Of The Earth 2020 Africa” winner has made bricks from plastic and sand. Matee is planning on spreading this new idea to not just Kenya but all of Africa. For now, they just have pavement blocks and are looking forward to making actual building blocks.
“For me I was tired of being on the sidelines of seeing plastic,” Nzambi Matee said. “I really jumped off a cliff without even a parachute. I was in a building as it was falling down, but isn’t that how great things are done?”
Matee’s bricks are stronger than concrete.
“It is absurd that we still have this problem of providing decent shelter – a basic human need,” Matee said. “Plastic is a material that is misused and misunderstood. The potential is enormous, but it’s after life can be disastrous.” (Source: https://worldarchitecture.org/article-links/egmeg/kenyan-startup-founder-nzambi-matee-recycles-plastic-to-make-bricks-that-are-stronger-than-concrete.html)
More people are creating inventions everyday to save the ocean environment. People like this are the people who want change and are succeeding.
